Product Description
greenEMAS® is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS). The purpose of the EMAS is to stop an aircraft overrunning the runway. The arresting system consists of several materials, where the main input by volume is Glasopor®, a cellular glass aggregate made from the waste fraction of glass collected for recycling. The greenEMAS® in this study was installed at Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW).
