Product Description
Vatnsskarð quarry is located in an area that is made up of various basaltic ridges.
These ridges were formed in many fissure eruptions that took place either under
a glacier or on dry land. The ridges are therefore made up of tuff, pillow lava and
basaltic lava. The raw material is collected either by ripping the ridges or blasting
them. The material is then crushed and or sieved.
Vatnsskarðs aggregate is used in ready mix concrete products from Steypustöðin
as well for road constructions.
